Koh Chang, Long stretch of tropical white sand beach bordered with coconut trees, almost dream like sights on Ko Chang are common, Koh Chang the largest and busiest island in region of East Thailand. Koh Chang is the second largest Thai island covering an area of 429 sq. kilometers, Ko Chang, boasts several amazing natural wonders that blend magnificently with the traditional way of life such as 70 percent undisturbed National Park rainforest, steep hills, cliffs, waterfalls, and notable wildlife, which includes Parrots, wild boars, hornbills and Sunbirds, fine white beaches, unspoiled coral reefs and an abundance of marine life. It is amazing to see the deep jungle ending and overhanging some parts of the sea water. In addition, numerous fruit orchards dot the island. Most of the scenic beaches and bays are on the west side spreading from the north to the south they include Ao Khlong Son , Hat Sai Khao, Hat Khlong Phrao and Hat Kai Bae. A road cuts through the western shore almost circling the island, the road for now ends just after Ban Bang Bao, a fishing community on the foot of the hill in the South. Camping is permitted on any island within the National Wildlife Park. On the North-East side of Koh Chang is Ao Sapparot, where the Sapparot car ferry lands. Following the road on the East side down to the South-East side we find the other two ferries the first we find is Dan Kao passenger and car ferry, the second we find down the road is Centrepoint Car ferry Tha Dan Kao. In addition, along the eastern shoreline as we follow the road south which cuts through the jungle on the East side of the island we find Ban Klong Nonsi village and at the end Ban Salak Phet village, a community with a boat pier to some of the islands in the Salak Phet bay and islands south of Koh Chang. For now the tourist industry is mostly concentrated on the West side of the island, if we follow the road from the ferry direct North-West that is from the ferry turning right. We first see a sign for Klong Son village, not much to do there, if we keep following the road on the West side of the island we see White Sand Beach, Klong Prao Beach, Kai Bae beach, Loney Beach, and Bailan Beach the road ends a few kilometer after Bang Bao fishing village. From Bang Bao Village are also most day and multi day trips to one of the other islands or dive locations.Koh Chang is home to the most activities and nightlife of the 52 islands that make up this archipelago, although because of its size and diversity, you can be as near or as far as choose to be from such goings-on. Most of the nightlife on Koh Chang is located at White Sand Beach. The busiest and most developed center is on the West-coast and accommodation on Haad Sai Khao (White Sand Beach), Klong Phrao beach , Kai Bae beach and Haad Tha Nam also called Lonely Beach are a few of the most popular places to stay. |
