The Center of Buddist Faith in Nakhon Ratchasima

Northeast ThailandWhen Wat Ban Rai in Dan Khun Thot district of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) is mentioned, most Thai people know that is is the residence of the Venerable Luang Pho Khun Parisuttho, one of the most revered Buddhist monks in Thailand. Some people believe that it will give good luck, for them if they 'knock' their heads Luang Pho Khun as a form of offering.

While heading along Mittaphap Road in Sikhio district, visitors will discover another attraction, where they may pay homage to the largest figure of the Venerable Somdet Putthachan, referred to as Luang Pu To.

This religious structure is located in the Somdet Phutthachan Foundation area. Sorapong Chatri, a famous Thai movie actor, is the chairman of this foundation, and he initiated the construction of this figure.
Apart from appreciating the architectural beauty of the figure, visitors will also see a concrete pavilion with a mother-of-pearl inlay roof coated with glittering gold. A small garden is arranged there as a recreational center for all visitors.

Down to the Khao Si Siat Ah area in Klang Dong subdistrict in Pak Chong district, a white large Buddha figure is found on an overhanging rock in the middle of green trees and bushes. This figure is commonly known as Luang Pho Khao, which was royally bestowed the name of Phra Buddha Sakon Sima Mongkhon. After turning to an asphalt road and driving for about three kilometers, you will find Wat Thep Phithak Punnaram, a tranquil temple. When you look up, you will see the figure of Luang Pho Khao, the figure weight is about 3,000 metric tonnes. A long stairs with 1,250 steps leads to the 112-meter high figure.

Luang Pho Khun, Lung Pu TO, and Luang Pho Khao of Nakhon Ratchasima are comparable to spiritual greatness in the heart and minds of the people who travel unceasingly to pay homage to the figures. Even if you not religious, a visit to this figures will impress you.
